You can paint the small stuff with fingernail polish. Lots of options with the FP. Build stands with paper clips and small alligator clips that you can get @ Radioshack.

FP is too easy. No clean up, lots of colors, dries fast, & all kinds of clear. You will need acetone to thin down some of the well used FP. I use "wet n wild" brand.

No worries gbf - most everyone here are always willing to help.

I have used powder paint on jigs but most of my painting is with nail polish.

Used alot of different nail polish before i got into powder paint. In some cases, i think it holds up just as well as powder.

I would get about any brand for colors, even the smaller $1 jars at the end of the asile. There are some outstanding glitter colors and combinations you can find. I would spend a little more and get a higher quality clear nail polish to use as a top-coat after painting color and also for sealing thread necks. Sally's Hard As Nails clear coat is tough to beat.

I think FP is good for anytrhing under 1/32oz. I powder coat using a fluid bed but I also spray powder when I'm doing mulitple colors, and if I have any bait with eyes I'll not only cure the powder but I also use Devcon 2 Ton epoxy, the 30 minute variety, this is hard and dries super clear.

ga - Now that I know more about mixing powders I've started to get away from the testors model paint. I always coated mine with the 2 part epoxy mix from Janns, only because I always used some of the heads with plastic baits.

SJ - Those are sweet!!!!!!!! Did you have to mod the blaster to use the powder paint at all?? and what are you using to heat the head before blowing powder on it????

I'm using a simple propane torch to heat the heads and no mods needed as the hobby blaster works right out of the box. you can't do fine detail but on spinnerbaits I don't think detail helps, but the detail thing aside, spraying the powder allos you to blend color really well and makes for nice fading, at least I think it works ok.

What ever paint system is easier for you is what you should use. You can use modeling paint with no problems - but I would use epoxy to cover it in case you want to use any plastics. The 2 part from Janns netcraft works really well, but it takes time to cure up.
