Since I tie primarily small jigs I have never used spey hackle. Recently a long time fly shop retail operation went out and had a good sale prior to final auction. Anyway picked up some stuff super cheap including a Renzetti traveling vise and LOTS of fedders.
So I tied some of these up . Started out with freshly formed head and spray coated clear PP to preserve shine. Then did punkin orange on top then coated whole head with holographic silver. Cut spay off of main vane and tied on . Used mono wrap and colored top back with orange pen then final coated with sally. Eyes are loose rhinestones set in sockets with head cement.
I think the fall walleye might pay some attention to these and hopefully a hungry crappie or three.
