There's not a lot of good things about living this close to the border, but when it comes to some regional vittles I appreciate it ;)

One of my favorite summer treats.

Got Cabot cheese, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Ben and Jerrys, and lots of micro breweries and Maple Syrup. No need to feel sorry for us

North vs. South. Lived in both I know each region of the U. S. Of A. Has it special prouduces, foods, and customs. Love Wisconsin cheese and beer. Vermont maple syrup. Iowa corn feed beef. Texas bar -B-Que brisket. Louisiana. Crawfish. Idaho potatoes . Maine lobsters. Alaskan crab. Washington. Apples. Need I go on. Each area needs to promote there produce and products.

Perhaps one day they can get El Mexicano Ice cream bars in the north and then maybe Wisconsin will send us some cheese curds to deep fry. I can only hope and remember the taste of deep fried cheese curds.

I'm going to look for those banana bars at the nearby international grocery store. Sounds pretty tasty and different. They may just carry them too. :Banane09: :Banane44:

Don't look at the info label .. Ice cream has to have a decent fat content to be any good ;)

The Ice cream in Wisconsin is so rich that you gain weight just looking at it. Very High butter fat. Dang pecan pies and sweet desert treats down south I have gain 20 lbs. since moving down here. The Southerners sure do like there sweets. Candy, cookies, pies, cakes, crisps, turnovers, fritters, and sweet tea losing weight here is impossible.

Bucko the lager kast cheese which is a soft stinky cheese is my favorite. Have to close your nose to get it in your mouth. But there is nothing better. That is something I really miss from the midwest cheese, the small local breweries, the local butchers with the old world worst (sausages) . The local bakery with smells that are unbelievable and taste that are out of this world. Yes those Amish sure know how to do things right.

As I get older those foods, tastes, and smells become more important. Maybe a link to a better more happy times a time of youthful innocents or maybe that of a miss spent youth.

In DC, we have a major Salvadorian population & the grocery stores now carry all the food I grew up with in So CA.

Coconut popsical's is my wife's fav. Me, I'll stick with the habenero sauce & chorizo

Bad thing about livin in Louisiana is food tastes bland when you go anywhere else. You can go to a restaurant advertising Cajun Cuisine in another state and leave there thinking...Is that really your best Cajun cooking??? Cuz it tasted like paper!

Ronnie being a Yankee by birth and a rebel by choice. I have found your statement to be true. When I ask where is the heat they look at me funny like I don't know s*** . Believe me when I moved down south I could not take any thing hot . Today about the only thing that I don't like on my food is the Scotch bonnet Peppers commonly know as Habinareo pepper. The people in south Louisiana like there food much hotter than the people in northern Louisiana. The people in North Louisianian like there food hotter than people in any where else in the U.S,of A. outside the people in southern Louisiana.
