I took my 4 year old grandaughter,Sophia aka J-2 to a local city park lake filled with bluegill and green sunfish. Using a tiny 1/128 oz. jig tie by paw paw, under a thill float she had a blast and caught 15 in less than 15 minutes. Then it was off to the playground for an hour and then to Macdonald's. She informed me that she's a good fisher, her words not mine. View attachment 7View attachment 8View attachment 9

She wants to make her own jigs bad. Already been stuck a few times playing at my desk but she won't back down. She wants to catch a big one. Probably have to take her catfishing soon. Next time I'll make sure there's no playground in sight and we'll fish longer.

This would be the lake to go to if you were wanting bait. Ocasionally it's stocked with channels but there can't be many predatory fish. Average length of fish is 2-3 inches, perfect for bait or to keep a 4 year old happy. I took her older sister there to get her started. She would rather fish than go to the playground.

Way to go!!!!!!! Ya got her hooked already!!!!!!!

My daughter still blames me for all her break ups in High School!!!!! I taught her to fish and she graduated to jigs and she has the touch with them!!!! Every time she had a new boyfriend they took her fishing and she outfished them big time!!!!!! It was the best thing I EVER DID!!!!!!

Didn't have to worry about boyfriends very long!!!!!!! My grand daughter is coming for the summer and I'm taking her fishing!!!!!!!!!!

Can't put a price on those good times!
Good luck with fishing longer. If I get 1 hour out of my 4 year old, that's pretty good. Usually he'll reel a few in and start playing.
