The tail is made of a silver-barred remnant leather purchased at Michaels. It's their Art Minds brand. The body is Estaz. Wish I could name the color. Head is painted with Rosey's safety blue powder and Orbit clear with extra-fine silver glitter mixture. The jig is a 1/16-ounce "no collar" ball head from Grandpa Bob's.

This one may be worth trying for crappie as the water cools and clears. I'm thinking of tying 1/8 and 3/16-ounce versions for walleye.

Edit: Changed 1/6 to 1/16. Jig has a #4 hook.

1/6 seems oversize for crappie? Looks like 1/16 #6?

Only got the morning of my last day to target crappie in CO on my trip, and I didn't get any till I ditched my 1/16 #4 starter and downsized to 1/24 #8. Been 3 years since I fished this reservoir dam and man was it fished out. The whole length coupla hunnerd yards used to be hot for 12s, this year I had to struggle to find maybe the last four holdout 10-12s. C&R of course.

That dog will definitely hunt. Blue is a staple in especially my winter jig box. Hawn, we use 1/4 and 3/8-oz jigs for crappie out of the boat all the time. I have a picture somewhere of a slab we caught the first week of January a couple years ago with a four inch 1/4-oz bucktail hanging from his mouth! If you can find the unpressured fish, they will flat out thump those big jigs!

Excellent!!!!! That is very different, and I'm in agreement with Ron Don, perfect jig version of a stinger soft plastic and the color is very unique, that will get bit...A lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing better than a stinger and thatn will last! Been wanting to do a stinger tie since Russ's woven one and now yours just reinforces the want.…
Really awesome work and inventiveness, Pup. Thx

Unpressured fish in the CO Front Range? Lucky you live in Kansas. How's Indiana?

Indiana's fine. Though, the crappie do receive fishing pressure at my local reservoir. :)
