Here are a couple of spinnerbait heads I had to do, I don't like how the pics came out as you can't see the holographic flake or the black on the back. The top one is a pattern I call moss minnow, it used a darker green than my river perch but it still works although you really need to see the back to see how the green works but my camers and the photographer are old and don't work well! The bottom is a gold shiner pattern, I use a gold holographic glitter I found years ago that I mixed with clear, it looks gold but does it really reflect light, anyway you can't see the dark back and how it transitions into the gold but it gives you an idea. These were done with powder in about 5 minutes for 3 of each so 6 baits total and 6 different colors between both.

Looks good . I just got that mold in a while back and have been fishing the 1/4 oz the last few days .. I like the way this thin head will run deeper than my other 1/4oz bullet head. One thing I noticed more today that the skirt will not flare as much as I would like for it to due to the slant off of the head .. (Out this PM from 12:00 til 04:45 amd manged to pick up 9 just keeper size Bass & one Small Redfish .. not quite as good as yesterday and last Thursday which is when I started using it) I used a lighter gauge wire for the ones I am now testing ...

Those Look Good ... Air Brushed Powder ??

Beautiful paint jobs!

Q1: How do you get the 'perch' stripes on the back of the top one? I just might have a stencil (or two) that i can send you (N/C) that are created from scraps and leftovers from work that i use.

Q2: If these are air brushed on........ the glitter can be pushed thru an air brush machine?

Nice job.

I too would like to hear details on how you made them.

Thanks guys, that spinnerbait has been a killer, I've tried bullet heads, arkie style, a style H but the Ultra Minnow is one of the best designs I ever used and that includes my terminators and Stanley Wedge spinnerbaits. It will go deeper and comes through grass incredibly well, just a really well thought out and executed design. The way I painted these was with a Badger model 260 hobby sand blaster, it is the same thing places are selling as the powder paint air brush. I don't screw the jars onto the airbrush, instead I use a shot pick up tube and just grab the jar with my hand while holding the airbrush, that allows the tube to go into the paint abount an inch or so deep whlie the jar is about a 1/4 inch or so from the bottom of the air brush. Anyway it simply heat and apply the color, for the belly and body color I have my compressor regulator at about 6psi, this setting gives me a good spray that lets me color without getting the paint to thick, for the black back which you can't see, sorry again, I turn it down to about 3 psi and that lets me keep the paint in a small area and still give me good coverage, this setting is dangerous as you could actually apply the paint to thick so be careful with that. For the orange throat/belly I turn it down to 1psi, that will let me get close up to avoid overspray, if you see the top head, that is how it works, the bottom head is when you try to add it using the 3 psi, it ends up down the length of the head. The stripes are the best part, they aren't powder, they were made with the quick coat lure markers, these are actual paint and not a sharpie, and what is nice is they come with different tips to allow you to customise the thickness, for those I just used the normal point. What is great besides the part that the markers are actual paint that you have to shake like a rattle can, and it sounds the same too, is that I added the stripes and then baked it, what happens is it goes right in to the powder and you'd never know it isn't powder as everything is completely blended together and it won't rub or wash off, instead it will chip off just like the powder as I tried it out when I first got them, a wonderful product and much better than just a sharpie but they don't work on hair...lol!!!
