Snagged my first fish of the season.

No crappie yet but I did snag a few small bass this evening at the city pond. I was slip floatin using one of my satin shiners. The very first one was literally snagged. Thought he was a lot bigger till I got him to the top and saw I hooked it on the belly.

Bet you did think you had something huge! :D

Got to be careful - can't legally keep certain species if they are hooked anywhere outside their mouth in Ohio..... bass are covered.

I accidentally snagged a bluecat on the side like that once. It was maybe 20 pounds but I could of sworn I had a state record on the end of that line. :D
Other than a few good messes of crappie,bluegill,and catfish every year I primarily Catch and Release. I usually only keep a bass if it takes a jig or lure deep and is bleeding. I do have a couple farm lakes I fish where the owner doesn't like bass in them so he asks me to keep them if I catch them.
