I had a customer order a dozen smallie jigs. He requested the rubber be a little longer than the tails so he can trim on the water as needed. They're 1/4-oz..... I think they turned out pretty well!

Those will get abused by the smallmouth. Leaving the skirt material long allows it to move around a lot even if it sits still. Both are good colors.... but what is the chenille on the copper/orange jigs?

Those things are beautiful!

I have got to start making the drive to Smallie waters and doing some experiments. It's only an hour or so away.....

Well..... Got a friend of my fishing buddy headed down to fish some big tournament on Lake Fork this next week, and he asked for some jigs. Apparently he likes fishing deep. So I actually found some 1/2-oz jigs at Cabelas this morning and went to work to see what I could do.

Bucktail, some chenille, skirt material.... The black ones have a chenille body base, then some Cohen's Carp Dub over the top of that. This stuff is way cool! It is a long strand, coarse dubbing that has a little bit of flash and a little bit of the Shaggy Dub in it, which is super fine round rubber material. It's gonna have some movement!
