Like a lot of people here, I bought a few pounds of paint from the Roseys' sale. It came in bags, so I was looking for some containers to transfer small amounts. I went to the local Dollar Tree hoping to find some small containers, thinking they'd be 2 or 3 to a package if I could find them at all. This is what I came home with.

They are 2.3 fl ounces, which is less than the standard ounce jar we're used to. I'd guesstimate it holds about as much as a 1 ounce jar. The mouth is wider for easier dipping though. For size comparison, here is one out of the package next to a 1 ounce and 2 ounce jar.

The lids are very secure and they are stackable. For $0.10 each you can't beat the price!

That's great!! You recon Dollar Tree is the same as Dollar General or Family Dollar? That's all we got in these parts.

This is a great find Shoemoo. I like wide-mouthed containers, particularly at that price. ;) Will be checking the local Dollar Tree this week. :icon14:

Found these at Dollar General this morning. About 1oz capacity I think.

They'll be ok for mixing I think but prolly not for storage, I don't care for the lid. The Dollar Tree web site, Store Locator shows 3 locations in Tyler. Next time I head that way I'll be checking it out.

I found the same exact 2.3fl oz. jars at the Dollar Tree and decided to go with the more expensive jars from Michaels since the dollar Tree ones had a snap on lid and looked really small even though they said they held a little more than 2oz. , I may have to go and pick some up like FM said and use them for mixing and then transfer into the better jar.

Yeah, ounces is a measure of weight not volume. One fluid ounce is the amount of space it takes to hold one ounce of water. They are pretty small, but most of the heads I paint are either 1/16 or 1/32 so a big container isn't necessary. I wouldn't throw them against the wall, but I did turn the containers upside down and shake them with the powder inside and the lids stayed on. Painted some heads up today and they worked great!

If you've got a Dollar Tree nearby, they're worth a try. Found the containers on their web site and it looks like they will ship to store for free, but you have to order a full case of 36 packages.

36 - 3 oz. jars are $15 and change. Postage depends on where you live and what distribution center it comes from. My last order for a case of 36 was $28. $8 cheaper.

If I find them in the local dollar general I might pick some up for mixing.

1 case of Uline jars = 36 jars at 78 cents each

1 case of these jars = 36 packages of 10 containers = 360 at 10 cents each

Of course, then you'd have containers coming out your ears. :)

Okay Shoe!!! DA moment here I saw the 36 to a case, missed the (pks of 10). Thanks for pointing that out!!!!!!! I may pick up some at the store for mixing but I'll store in my Ulines. IF I had a dedicated work area I might consider using them instead and build some kind of rack but I don't have that space, and the Ulines stack really nice in a medium flat rate box.

And other openings too!
