Hi,

I have found the shad bait lure to be a fantastic producer for baltic cod. It has just about the right size for small boat and watercraft fishing, exactly my niche. :icon14:

What bothers me though is the ridiculously small #0 eye on the back. It´s fine for cod and perch, but by no means suitable for real saltwater use up in norway. More than that, I would like to opt for a belly eyelet, giving it a true tail spinner option by simply rigging a spinner blade at the tail with a split ring and a swivel (s.b.).

Allthough (or because :D) overprized, Tiemco`s "ocean spin" is a very successfull producer for both light tackle pollock and specimen yellow pearch fishing. I found the shad bait lure, rigged like the "lytle´s secret tail spinner" doing the exact same thing. Since the guy doesn´t marked europe I wonder if anyone knows where I might get a similar insert for use on my side of the big pond.

some mold modification and a bit of wire bending you can make about any style you want. I make my own forms for the shad bait lure. Probably the best thing for you to look at and it may very well be what is being used in the lytles is a slightly modified "tail Spin" wire form

I agree the eyelet is small, but it is very strong and I have broken 30# braid after getting some hung in the rocks. I've never had one come out so the function very well.
