Rum Raisin Bottom Bugs

Tied these up early this evening. Used suede leather to form appendages. Painted the heads with a "rum raisin" powder paint mix.

Materials:
  • Two 1/8-ounce jig heads with #2 red hooks
  • Harbor Freight Powder Paint Mixture - black, red, white (2:4:1 ratio)
  • Coats & Clark Trilobal Polyester Thread (40-wt.) - chona brown
  • UTC Ultra Thread (140 denier) - rusty brown
  • Tandy Leather Factory Suede Remnant - light rusty brown
  • Darice Craft Fur - brown

Always enjoy seeing your work - thread necks are always perfect and clean.

That would make a good copy of a pumpkinseed split-tail grub i had used for years in the river with great success..... honestly had forgotten about it till just now. :cool: :jig:

It's a lot of fun to challenge myself to come up with slightly different styles each time. JigCraft.com, with all of its talented members, has a lot to do with this. :icon14: :icon14: :cool:

You are after my own heart Pup!!! Those right there are fantastic smallmouth jigs and would work in both lakes and river, the color is a perfect late spring craw color, nicely done and the leather work is extraordinary!!!
