I've found that I have several (less than 20) Roadrunner jigs without tails. Some are in white and some in yellow. Does anyone use Roadrunner jigs to tie their own? Would they be any good for Crappies?

People have been using those things for a long long time . I'd say about every pan fish angler Probably has one in his box.

They are great for longlining for crappie. I'll use a "horsehead" jig on the end of my line and a jighead and curly tail grub about 3 ft up the line.

One of my very favorite longline baits. I like to drag a 1/8 oz. pony white head with a blue paint eye, Blue crystal chenille body and a White marabou tail. Run it slow in the middle of the river channel. In January and February it is my number one bait. It will take big silver bass or Bigg Slabs. This year because of low water will have to go down to a 1/16 oz. Some of my local friends like to have me tie up a pony in 1/16 or 1/32 oz. and cast them. they do well with them .

I use a lot of RR in my jig tying. I always have 1/32, 1/16 and 1/8 oz jigs with me. If I want my jigs to run deeper than 6 foot I'll use the 1/8 but all other times the 1/16 and 1/32 does the job.
