Got a call from a good friend , wants to start tying jigs . Asked me about the Regal vises , I know nothing about them I told him . So I figured I would ask if anyone tie's on one and what opinions may be had , to relay back to him . Trying to get him to jump on board be he is kinda old school and not real fond of computers . Thanks for any help .

I really like Regals because it HOLDS a hook. And there is no need for adjustments to change hook sizes. They aren't cheap and you are better off buying new - unless you know the seller. Made in America!

I love mine. Tried a lot of different brands. Once I bought a Regal I quit trying. My Regal is so old it might qualify as a collector item. It and I have become antiques together.

I have to agree with Papa and LH. Once I used a Regal the search was over. Small, stream lined & no adjusting. The grip it puts on a hook is amazing.

DC - Last year I got the tru-inline and the new stainless steel vise with the off set lever. Extremely happy with the SS head - it's even kid friendly - big improvement. I don't tye enough patterns for the tru-inline - can't offer an opinion.

I am guessing that Papa and LH bought there vises many years ago when the manufacturer still had allot of pride in what they where producing , so my question would be is the Regal vise of today still of the same high quality as back then?
The origional owners bought back the company a while back because they were not satisfied with the craftsmanship and quality of the vise's that Regal was know for . From what I have read and the conversation with a very knowledgeable gentleman Regal is back to the bench mark vise again . I have to admit they got my attention and got me thinking of investing in one .

Regal Engineering doesn't answer my e-mails. :beat-up:

I have an old Regal and like its design. Like squeezing a lever to open the vise jaws. Hooks don't move. :icon14:
