I think it would be helpful to have one running post or recipe book of sort, dedicated to cool colors you created while mixing powder paint. It would need some pretty exact details, like amounts, who makes it, and specific colors. Everyone seems to be a mixologist these days...lol. What do you think?

I like it.

No secrets on JigCraft... if it has a Patent, TM or © - best not to post ANY info on the internet because i (and likely a few others) will steal it for our own private use! ;) :D I may end up adding a recipe page to the main site as well to keep all the info at a quick glance.

Good pics are a must!

Great Idea. And I agree no secretes on jig craft. There are three things I can recommend this site for . 1 The best tiers on the net post here . 2 We share and share alike whether it is knowledge or trading supplies every man here has a reputation for honesty . 3 We don't fight and down talk each other . Ergo JigCraft is the best site on the web .

my problem is , that i will have to actually notate what colors i actually mix in to get the colors.... lol.. I am experimenting like Roger does, so small batches and typical i dont keep up with amount of pp and colors added, i just keep adding until i get something i like.

I copied this orig. thread attempting to keep the other thread clean of question or remark replies, thought we could use this one to ask any questions about things posted and use the other just for receipes. Make sense? Just figure it will be easier to browse through it.

I have another one to add, but think i wrote the formula down wrong. Got to double check when i get home.

So far i have been mixing small amounts as well using a 1/4 teaspoon that i stole from the kitchen. Mix it in single parts at first and test it - then just double it up to get more if i like it. Have mixed 4 colors now, but only 2 have turned out how i wanted and not sure if i can 'fix' the others. Wonder if i just mix together my small test mixes into one jar if i will eventually end up with black? Doubt it, probably more like baby poo color.

Don't think anyone needs a fancy camera to get decent pictures, would guess a cell camera would work, but don't think you get the Macro feature that regular digi cams have. IMO, you almost have to be outside in true light (but NOT direct sunlight) and have a contrasting background to get colors correct. When shooting with the Macro setting on a digi cam, i use the automatic exposure setting that are default, but place a piece of something off to the side of the picture that is true black and pure white. Just crop out the picture when ypou go to re-save it. I think this helps to balance out all the colors and is also helpful if you do have to color correct in photoshop or other software. If anyone has a color they really want to add but can't get the pics to come close... PM me and maybe we can trade a few heads with the color you want and i can take the pic for you.

Here is what i'm talking about... White paper and black plastic off to the left then cropped out.

Fantastic photography tip Russ...Ive had trouble capturing the exact color before and had never thought about using black and white for balance...... Great tip...

And I agree even a cheapy digital can get decent macro pics !!

The black and white in the photo does help and the more you get in the frame that can be cropped out later the better, but it is not a silver bullet. Being out in filtered natural light (in the shade on a sunny day) is as close to the silver bullet as you are gonna get. About the only time i figure on taking Macro pics in direct sunlight is for very dark colors like purple, brown, drk. red or drk. green... those colors taken in the shade tend to turn out dark and appear to be black.

Just hope i am not coming off as a 'know-it-all' on photos because i can assure you, i am a hack and actually know very little about the details - all trial and error.

Heath, that is a nice color. You got to remember the color combo. I built a light box for the pics but need to add a light on each side once I find the materials I want to use. My outside shots never turn out the way I want em to.

If it shows the color....... shoot it and post it! Not even too worried about if the pic is fuzzy or blurry. If the color looks close on your screen as it does in your hand, it's close enough for me. ;)
