Raccoons and Coyotes

Anyone ever tied anything with Raccoon tails? How about coyote? I was thinkin about getting a raccoon hide from a buddy of mine who hunts them and I'm prolly going to go to the farm this weekend and try to call in some coyotes.

They make great tying materials. Make sure the skins are really clean and keep them quarantined from your regular supplies at first. If you get them tanned first you'd be able to make some really nice zonker strips from them, and you could cut them in blocks and trade for other hairs and materials.

Do have some raccoon tail....... would consider it over-sized kip tail. Larger size than KIP but will still keep its shape fairly well.

Coyote........ HATE them and would shoot one if i ever had one in my sights. They freak me out fishing after dark and have lost a few good 'mouse cats' to them in the past. Never tied with the fur but know several people who do.

Keep your eyes open for some red fox... They make great crawdad patterns! :icon14:
