Tied two fire tail grubs this evening. Each weighs about 3/16 of an ounce and has a 2/0 bronze hook.

Used Tulip Puffy Paint in purple and orange to color the tails.

These type of jigs you make are so Cool! :icon14: Do you go after Smallmouth with these?

Thank you Andy and no, I wouldn't likely use this particular color for smallmouth bass. Browns, blacks, silvers, and various greens work much better for me. I do fish a hair jig in purple and yellow for smallmouth during spring and fall. A float-n-fly hair jig in black and purple will work well for them, at times, during the winter in my area.

I will fish this jig in hopes of catching largemouth bass and walleye in my area.

PePop,

Actually, the yarn is Herrschners Bulky Chenille. It is nice and fuzzy. ;)

Awesome jigs Pup, the purple glitter on the tail is going to put out a ton of flash and the orange on the tip will provide enough contrast to elicit a strike from just about any game fish, excellent work as always!!!

Nice ties. Does the paint hold up well underwater? What about after a few strikes?

Thank you Shoemoo. This paint holds up very well after it dries for 72 hours. It is machine washable. Agitators and detergents don't affect it immediately, so it is good to go for fishing imo. Now, I do suspect that it will crack and wear away over time when fished regularly.

Puffy paint is surprisingly flexible and adheres well to thin suede.
