I need some help. Every time I have tried to sit down and order some Powder I have either gotten distracted or indecisive and never got it done. I guess the main thing I'm indecisive about is amount to buy. I know a lot of y'all buy it by the pound and That is prolly the best bang for your buck.
I am going to buy a larger amount of clear but at first I was just going to buy different colors in 2oz containers. Will a 2oz container of powder go very far? Should I spend the extra few bucks for half pound containers of each color. I was looking to order from Columbia Coatings. Does anyone know if you can only buy paint by the pound from Roseys or do they sell it in smaller amounts. I couldnt see on the site where you could choose. Thanks in advance for any advice it is greatly appreciated.

A 2oz. jar of powder will last you a long, long time and paint a ton of jigs - IF - you don't go crazy mixing colors with it. :P A few colors i went through fast in the 2oz. size because some odd ball colors were mixed with them. Most of those first mixed colors now sit un-touched. For my personal use, have found that Pearl White and Clear are the 2 i use most of. Dark colors take me a long time to go through even using them in mixes because it only takes small amounts of darker colors compared to lighter - if that makes sense. Make your mix light to start then slowly add in your darker colors testing as you go...... can always make a mix darker but is nearly impossible to get a mix lighter after it has dark in it.

Just a suggestion, wait a few more days & Rosey's Powder Paint is supposed to have a "Jig Tiers Assortment" available. It's 10 colors of your choice from a pre selected group, in 2oz jars for $39.99 I think. So, for $40 you can have 10 colors, add a # of 100% Gloss Clear to it & you'll be set. Just my 2 cents.

Harbor Freight's prices went up recently on their 1-lb. containers of powder paint. Though at $5.49 a pound, it continues to be a tremendous bargain. If you have one nearby, check them out for basic red, yellow, white, and matte black colors. You can check them out online as well.

From these you could mix a pretty nice
  • gray
  • plum brown
  • light pink
  • light yellow
  • salmon pink
  • brown (golden brown)
  • burnt orange
  • olive
  • green pumpkin

Compare this price to the price of 2-oz. containers, sold by others, per ounce. It's a great value to me.

I buy pounds bc it's Cheaper for me than ordering a 2 oz jar online and then pay shipping. I usually just give my excess away. A bit of advice, ask around at mechanic and paint n body shops firstly

I get some powder from a powder coating company (friends with owner) for free. All others I have bought from ebay or other internet vendors. I always buy it by the pound and probably have a lifetime supply of every color I've bought except clear. Have tried the basic color from Harbor Freight but they dont act quite right for my set up so I'll buy online somewhere and if you watch occasionally 7.99 pound and 5.95 shipping for up to 3 pounds and 9.95 for 10#
