There was a thread not too long back talking about mixing your own candy style colors by using lots of clear with just a little color. I recently purchased the Pro-Tech Candy Red and had the chance to paint a couple the other night. Thought it would be nice to compare the two.....

The two on the left are the Pro-Tech Candy Red and the two on the right are a mix of my own (Candy Flame Spark, post #9 in the Mix Pix) that comes close. Both have glitter added. Love the way the real Candy Red looks as it lets the shiny jig head show through where my Candy Flame mix is a little more opaque.
Here comes the but........ first test to see how the two compare as far as durability the Candy Red did not do so good - it chipped by far easier than the Candy Flame mix. They were both cured at the same time side by side at my normal cure time/temp so there was no difference there. May try the same test again with new painted heads and adjust the cure time longer to see if it makes any difference.
Lastly - a couple others i painted/cured while i was at it. L-R: Copperhead, Olive Hi-Lite, Watermelon Pepper, and Kiwi Hi-Lite. Nothing too fancy about them but they all have a quick dip (not complete coverage) in mica sparkle before putting the main candy type top color on. The way they catch the light in the sun is very hard to show in a picture.
