Lets say you are pouring heads out of a mold that has 1 cavity of each size. (1/32, 1/16, 1/18.....)

If you want 4 sizes and you are putting a different size hook in each cavity......

1/32 - #6
1/16 - #4
1/8 - #2
3/16 - #1

Do you pour them 1 at a time. Or lay out 4 seperate piles of hooks and pour all the cavities at once? I know how i do it but wondered what others did! Did i mention i hate assorted molds!

I like getting one pile of the same hooks and pour one size at a time.A lot less complicated. Then clean that size and get it put away before they all get mixed up.Some of them sizes are pretty close in appearance.

Took me right at an hour to pour and clean 50 each of 4 sizes.... 200 heads. I prefer to pour them all at once. You get in a groove and its on.

I had an old doll fly mold wood pincher handles made of brass . I could poor heck out of them with that single cavity . You wouldn't think so but not reaching for hook after hook can have advantages in its simplicity . You just do hook pour, hook pour . Given the choice tho I'll take the pro mold . Assorted cavity molds are for folks pouring 10 heads each then off to the lake .

I bought my wife all new cooking trays and I took the old ones. When I pour pony heads I put wood pieces on the tray and different size hooks go in each slot. As I pour 3-4 molds at a time it works out fine.

I usually do two sizes at a time. Seems like with four the mold gets hot to quickly and have to switch to something else while it cools.

The second set of 25 went a good bit faster than the first. I had my 4 hook piles right at the end of the table so i could just slide them off instead of picking up the hook. With that mold the sprues have to be cut off so just picked them out of the mold with the cutters and cut.

I like to pour them all at once also but try to pour in sets of two. It is surprising how fast it goes pouring only a single jig.

All at the same time.

Lay out small containers (I use lids from home brew syrup cans) with hooks in order they go in the mold, and go for it.
