I sold a hand painted resin dragon figurine for $200 on eBay. It's a limited edition figure from a line that was only available in Europe. There were only 2500 made, and production ended about 8 years ago. Since it had to be specially imported from England, there's probably only a handful of them in North America.

In spite of wrapping the figure in so much bubble wrap it looked like a basketball, placing it in a box filled with styrofoam peanuts then placing that box in another box also filled with peanuts, they still managed to break it.

At least I had the foresight to put insurance on the package. I opted for insurance through eBay rather than USPS since they're supposed to be faster with claims, but I'm out the $16 shipping cost.

That really sucks that you went to all that trouble of packing and they still broke it. On USPS anytime I've had to claim the insurance they gave me back the shipping also. I'd check to see if Ebay covers the shipping fee also!!!!!!!!!!!

Seems like your packing was bomb proof...any suspicions about buyer remorse?

Sad to say but I've learned never to mark parcels with "Fragile" because that may target them for special treatment somewhere along the line.

eBay Seller claims this item was shipped Priority Mail - not delivered yet. Tracking info:
"Your item was processed through our RICHMOND, CA 94804 facility on January 07, 2012 at 5:13 am. No further information is available for this item."

Another item mailed(no tracking) from another Seller around that time hasn't arrived yet either. WTF USPS?!

I'm tracking thru the USPS website. Since nothing is showing up at my PO after 7 weeks, I assume there is a glitch in the forwarding system from the Richmond CA sort facility. Hopefully, there isn't a security breach with my items headed for the local flea market. Being out here on an island, most of my supplies are delivered USPS, and 5 weeks has been the outside transit time for slow boat Parcel Post. Priority Mail usually 5 days from the East Coast, 3 from the West.

I've asked our local post office staff if anyone could physically check for the items in CA, and got a negative.

Well, I got the response from the insurance company. As expected, they refunded the cost of the listing, but not the shipping. At least it was fast. I imagine it would be OK if you were offering 'free' shipping and factored the shipping price into the cost of the item.

The guy says he will email me photos, but hasn't done so yet. I have no reason to believe he's lying, since he bought another figure I had for sale (mailed in another box) and didn't dispute that one. Should I have him ship the item back to me, or just tell him to keep it?

Maybe I will offer to let him keep it if he accepts a refund of the purchase price minus shipping. I want to be fair, but I don't want to get soaked for the shipping costs.
