Looking for a good one. Every one I've ever tried is bland....flat. Anybody found a REAL GOOD Pearl white? I know it exists bc I just saw a head painted on Barlows.

The protec powderpaint I got from Do-It was nice. Too expensive for commercial use but if I only tied for myself I´d stick with it. I use pearl as a base for 2/3 of my entire powderpainting since I like it natural and the excellent chrome I got gets dull under nail hardener, which again is more economic to use than epoxy...
That being said I wonder if I can crank my regular stuff up a notch with gloss and sparkle dust.

I'm very pleased with the Pearlescent White I got from Rosey's! But then it's the first Pearl White I've ever used.

Bucho, if you want large quantities of paint at good prices, you may want to try auto paint n body shops.

Verrrrrrrn,
That looks good and may just be the lighting but looking for something more like so:

Lost Pole, when it comes to the pro-tec paint, I found that if you just use the white first and then the pearl over it, you get a great pearl, after I did that I kind of thought that maybe that is how it is supposed to be used since that straight pearl is like you said, flat. I found that out by accident, I wanted to do a white belly on a spinnerbait and then pearl sides and I got too much pearl over the white but it looked great and I've been doing it ever since.

You mention your pearl looking flat........ like a matte finish compared to a gloss?

The ProTech is pretty good, but it comes out somewhat matte also. I believe it is the mica stuff that is added that causes this. My straight mica/clear has almost a completely matte or dull finish when i just dip it. Maybe you could add clear to the ProTech (or other brand) pearl, but i would be afraid it would take away from how vibrant the pearl looks, letting the lead head color 'bleed' through. That might be OK if you are using a bright finish alloy like tin, but most of my lead is pretty dull and dark gray after sitting around.

If you just want the gloss/wet look over top another color, here is my trick to keep from getting too thick a coat of clear that might crackle on you................. dip your pearl and then back over the heat to make sure it is all stuck so it does not come off and contaminate your clear. Let it cool almost completely, maybe 5-10 secs depending on the size. While it is still just barely warm, dip it into some well fluffed clear powder. The clear powder will not gloss, but it will stick almost like static cling and look like it is just a dusty nick-knack that has been sitting on a shelf for years. Put it back over the heat and the clear [should cover it and create the gloss look.

My pearl does not look like that..... that one looks outstanding! That is almost a pearl/chrome look. My pearl is much more sparkly and not near as smooth looking.

I have some stuff called Hi-Lite (i think) that was given to me in the color Violet. Mixed it in with clear and can actually use it as a top coat to pearl and it gives it more of the purple-ish color that clams and oysters sometimes have.

Try CC's super high gloss clear

Like the Hi-lite idea. Have some for palstics so it should work for PP (this does not sound right).

Tried the dip in white and then pearl looks great but could not leave well enough alone Had some purple shad spinner bait skirts I could not get a head color That looked good until I read the post on white then pearl and then I added alewife and bingo matches perfect. Thanks for the idea

A product From lureworks called silk pearl is good for mixing. It's a real smooth mica. The hilight AF talked about is super fine also and works on the surface.
