Pulled out my other set of paints on Saturday......

View attachment 7

Is a stretch for me painting with watercolor where it is better to let the paint flow where it wants to go........... i get too anal trying for detail. Most of my sketches and painting is odd Dr. Seuss type stuff where one can screw up and it looks like you meant to. I usually don't try to paint realistic stuff unless it is landscapes or trees. Not terrible but still needs work.

I think you've done a fine job AF. I enjoy impressionistic art work. It's no wonder I tie jigs. :)

My Mom is an artist that has enjoyed some commercial success. Dad was a wood carver/sculptor, as well as a fisherman, during his retirement.

Watercolors are pretty cool. I like the way you've painted the fish and, especially, the brush in the background. The jig was no sweat I'd bet. Tempted to powder paint it? ;)

Thank you for all the kind words. :) This is one i do want to frame and put up above where my laptop... or at least down by my painting area.

I love painting with water color but am constantly having to hold myself back from trying to pull out all the details. I do enjoy bright colors also.

Never was the artistic type but I can remember my Grandfather Hays. He would ask one of his grandkids ( he had a lot ) whats your favorite animal ? Whatever the answer was he would commence whittling on some wood block. Anywhere from a 1/2 hour to maybe 4hrs ( depending on detail and size ). And you would be holding something so lifelike it was scary.

When I was in my " bear " phase he carved and painted every main specie of bear he knew about . I remember playing with them in bed till the wee hours of 8:30 pm or so . Funny thing is I don't remember what ever became of them.
