Know the way I feel tonight . Why ? Because its the week end and every body is fishing but me . Why am I not . Because I live in Ok. I have a load of ticks and chiggers building a condo in places I can't mention . Last time I wade grass Shoulder high to fish an obscure pond in the middle of no where . Did I catch fish NOOO! They were to busy trying to escape the water moccasins . The freak'in grass was moving but it wasn't from the breeze . So any body wanna go fishing with me tomorrow.

I WILL!!!!!!! Oh pick me, pick me, pick me, pick me......!!!!

Had the chiggers once or twice in the un-mention-ables and not a fun ride. :beat-up: Use 'Off' spray right around your shorts legs and belt line before you head out - honestly works wonders for the chiggers................ seems like i still bring home a few ticks though. :dodgy:

I had spray all over me including my shoe soles . I had a fish on the line and a big fat stinky moccasin chased it half way across the pond . They were so bad you could actually smell them in the air . I was alone too . Figure if I had a partner 30 seconds later I would have been alone anyway . I'm not afraid of snakes one at a time . When your out gunned like that it's high time to retreat . That is twice in my life I found myself in that position . Superman can leap a building in a single bound . A fat bald man can leap a five strand barb wire fence with a running start . Just remember to throw the tackle box and rod just before the leap.

Sounds like they are fixing to hit spawn mode, they are even worse at that time a year and make them buggers territorial it doesnt matter how big you are they are planning to put a whipping on your A$$. When they are that thick it definitely makes you think twice about walking through that tall grass along the shore line.... Had to cut a rope stringer loose one time finishing the spillway at Toledo Bend. Had a few nice gills on it ready for some good eating when i got home. Only to find a couple of moccasin had a different idea in mine as they where well attached to two of them, cut the string and watched them drift off into the sunset. Probably the biggest thing I didnt like about Louisiana where them snakes never seen so many of them anywhere like there....

That's one thing I always have an abundance of around here . I have one snake I let live around here . He has been here I know 7 years . Big ole black snake keeps varmits from over populating . He is about 10' long and 4'' around now . I now he hangs around the barn . Even at that I nearly crap my pants when he sees me before I see him.

No fun having the chiggers get in uninvited places. Sounds like a place I wouldn't want to fish again, at least from the bank....

I really think the reason they were so bad is this pond has no livestock around it . Has a lot of dead trees on the bank cause it is an old pond . The low side of the bank is covered with black berry vines just loaded with berries . What bank I could see had muskrat holes . For a snake that is a veritable smorgasborg of critters coming in there to eat .
By the way If I got any critters on me now they ain't happy . Put a half cup bleach in my bath water . All I could do was yell BURN BABY BURN.
