Hi everyone,

its been 2 years now since I quit my job at the bank, one year since I went to business with myself. Now how ist that REALLY making me fell? hmmmm...

Here are some pics of my humble beginnings, the sparsely outfitted first own shop at a downsized shipyard with both the big and the small testing area:

While the calculated profits don´t yet pay the rent, the venture has pulled its own weight from the very start. This has allowed me to grow significantly without investing anything, which I find isn´t even that bad for a startup. More importantly, the structure of orders both from regulars and from folks I never heard of before, tell me that people make good use of this relatively new stuff and pass on recommendations.

I cannot stress enough how thankfull I am for the help and inspiration I found here in this forum. There`s no way I could have done it without you guys! :icon14:

Well done my friend . It is rare that anyone is able to achieve any tangible success the first five years. You just might be The next world wide name Brand on the shelf .

huge congratulations to you! it's not really work if you love it they say. my wife has made the notion of me going full time on lures too. but with two kids I gotta rely on the money from my regular job, for now.... lol. kudos to you though!

Nice looking little shop. Your collection of molds is growing...............but you left lots of room to add to your collection.

Very glad the site has helped you, lots of 'old school' knowledge here that is hard to come by. Your customers should appreciate that in the long run.

.................your boat is a little small for that boat ramp! hahahaha! Sure do love that feeling of shoving off shore into a huge body of water in just a small little kayak. :)

Thanks for all the good wishes!

Success is not even that hard if you have no competition :-) Not too many jig crafters around here. Not too many self employed lure makers at all to be honest. Most guys who try make the mistake to over-specialize. There´s a sea-trout plug guy, a flounder-spoon guy etc. Once they get some attention, the industry takes the idea and dumps the niche with a cheap look-a-like that doesn`t even do the trick but resembles it just enough and costs half the price. My main concern is not to be pushed into a corner, s.a. the saltwater kayak guy or so, which is why I´m trying so hard to come up with all sorts of different applicatons.
The beaty of my location is that I and the folks who help me testing and developing have pretty much all kind of waters in reach - canal, baltic sea, great lake, stream, you name it. The big testing area on the pic is the closest, but by far not the only one.
