My method of tying has always been simple - feed the fish what the fish want. Also, my jigs tend to be between 1/8 to 3/8 oz - bit heavier than most tie here.

The last jig swap had some really nice work; eyes, multiple paint schemes, light weight ... I've done them like this before, but like simple - it's easy & effective.

The next jig swap I may try something a bit fancier. Read the threads on the eyes & securing them, so maybe will order some & give that a whirl.

After all this rating, I've got some jigs in the light weight category that have a tear drop shaped head with recessed cavities for eyes. Here's my question, who makes these molds? Can I order them? And how do I know what size eyes to buy for them?

Out here...
Not sure on the mold, but on the size of eye 1/8 will prolly be a 4mm. 1/16 maybe a 4mm maybe a 3 mm. Not sure on the larger sizes, where the 5mm would start. Do it would prolly be a good place to start... Someone with more experience will chim in I'm sure...

Hook-up go to Barlows and you can see a lot of jig molds (place to buy do-it molds). Do-it Mold company has several molds like you are wanting. Jacobs bait is also making great molds. The kenny custom is under construction and I have the proto-type. Kenny is going to make a 5 shot or larger style for sale soon.

A "pin" style mold is where the mold is drilled and you "pin" the centers for eyes making a recess area for a plastic 3D eye. Fishhunter has a lot of jigs going thru ebay. I would also suggest CrazyAnglers. His web page is very good and sales a lot of plain jigs with recessed eyes.

I have some larger jigs for walleye. I have molds from do-it up to 1 oz pending current on the IL river of Mississippi River. I would say my personal favorite right now is Jacobs because the options to change hooks sizes. There is more variations to use better than Do-its.
