I just came across this vise whilke looking for a better vise in the future and I think I've come across a product that would take the fun out of tying for me but as one who hasn't used it I can't say for sure. I like the concept of the automatic bobbin but it sort of defeats the purpose since you have to wind the thread from one spool to another thus saving you no time if you think about it but that is another discussion. Anyway, I'd like to hear others thoughts on this vise and it would be cool to hear from someone who actually has one.

Out here...
If I tied more flies I could see the use. but with jigs I don't think I could get the full use of it. I have been thinking about the auto bobbin but it is expensive....

I just came across an Ekich aoutomatic bobbin that uses the factory spools and looks awesome but $100 plue $30 for shipping says I won't have one anytime soon. I think these would be indispensible if one was tying commercially for profit but for home use, unless you have a large disposable income I just don't see the need but all of it is cool.

Id take a Ekich bobbin over a Nor-vise bobbin anyday , got a chance a while back to use both and the Ekich was sweet and very comfortable to use . The nor had to keep rethreading it and the fact you got to buy xtra bare spools have a drill and have to transfer the thread , don't make much sence to me . Have you seen the DamaSeal vise to go with the Ekich bobbin ? I want one !!!

Discussions on these all the time on the fly boards, you either like them or don't see the use in them. While the DamaSeal vise looks great I have lots better things to buy with $2250+!!!!!!!!

That Damaseal vise is all handmade and I doubt I could use it since the smallest jig hook I tie is a 2 and I have tied a lot of bucktails on 4/0 hooks and that isn't going to happen on that vise but it is a work of art. That kind of equipment is for guys that sit in a den at a large desk in a big leather chair, not for the guy who ties jigs on a 20 dollar vise on my tying bench/computer desk using jigs with large hooks while listening to Neil Young pump through speakers.

I started on a cheap little Worth jig tying vise that came in the kit to a Sunrise AA, to a Herters #9 that was broken to a Thompson Model A and then I got my DK Kingfisher. I've always thought about a DK Barracuda but again I just can't justify the cost at this point and my DK does everything I want to do right now.
