Seen a lot of posts lately from newbies looking to get started. I ran across this on Ebay and thought It might be something of interest to someone,

Ebay was, is and probably always will be a sellers market. The timed auction format and the tendency of bidders letting the competition get to them will always make it such. I've seen some prime examples of just plain ol' stupid there more times than I care to count. Over and over again I've seen people pay far more for used stuff than they could have paid for it brand new. Or...I've seen bid wars on one item going to exorbitant levels when other listings for the same item have no bids at all. And the best yet is always when two or more bidders decide they are getting that one auction, no matter what. I like to sit back and watch the stupid as it unfolds.

So regrettably, no drinking was likely involved in the above auction. All parties were fully engulfed in the process and blissfully unaware of the overspending....

Don't get me wrong...I still wade through the stupid and shop Ebay a bunch. I do 'buy it now' listings and the only way I bid on auctions is by sniping. I'll pay up for rare or really hard to find items but I always have a set price for the item and the mindset that I won't pay even a single penny more, and if someone else does then the fool overpaid for it.

[sniping doesn't mean you aren't letting things get away from you either. The bidder that won the above auction did so by sniping]
