I was wondering if any of you saw the new material at Barlows, they have speckled flashabou now and some other kind too but the real find is the Arctic goat hair and the Temple fox hair. The goat hair is described as to be flowing in the water while the temple fox is the same as arctic fox with a little more length and for me and others who tie larger jigs this is going to be excellent!!

FYI, just so everyone knows... Fly tying suppliers are evasive about the source of temple dog (first time I've heard it called fox, but it's definitely the same hair based on the pic) but there is strong evidence it comes from domestic dogs.

Look at the pelts that still have their tails. Notice how short they are? Foxes have long tails relative to their body length. If those are foxes, I'll eat my hat.

China source . Possibly chow dog . would have to have a sample to know . Used to have a white one and a black one . When they shed in the summer I used the hair . They got shot for running cattle by my neighbor . Don't blame him .

At least they don´t put the meat to waste like other farmed pelts animals. :D:icon14:

Has anyone helt that stuff under blacklight yet? Looks great to me. I´ve been struggling with too thin rabbit fur, while finn racoon is way too expensive. Would make for some killer pike bigbaits!

Edit: Was thinking of cutting zonker strips from the whole skins, when barlows says its fluorsecent then it´s fluorescent.
