Need to replace the ones i am currently using...... Anyone have any input on these 3 styles of glomitts from Cabela's?

Guidewear Glomitts

MTO50 Extreme

Pinnacle Elite

I am kinda leaning towards the Guidwear model just because they look a little more water resistant, but not sure if that is gonna sacrifice warmth. The MT050 'look' like they might be the warmest of the 3. Heck of a discount on the Pinnacle model though, just not sure why they are so expensive at full price other than the leather.

With out a doubt, glomitts are the best thing i have found for fishing. During ice season i will often only stick out a single finger from under the mitten to hang across the line if the fish are biting extremely light. Do the same for casting with a spinning reel in the fall for walleye, then cover back up for reeling. Absolutely love the glomitts style all through late fall and winter.

the MTo50 , and Pinnacle state to have 200 grams thinsulate, the guidewear does not state that. I looked at the reviews for the Guidewear , and one states not the warmest, but the best for Wind, and rain.

Hate to say this, but you'll want to get multiple pairs.

When they get wet, and its cold, you'll want to replace them.

For kayak fishing in the winter, I have multiple pairs of rag wool gloves that fit either hand. I'll usually wear a neoprene glove on my left hand and a rag wool glove on my right. When the wool glove gets wet, replace for another.

Also look at SIMMs glove/mitten combo's. I like mine, but when they are wet & its cold out, so are my fingers.

Out here...
Pinnacles are more expensive cause they are better made and the pockets for the hand warmers would be nice, but any would work..

But I would rather have one of these...

Keeping my fingers dry always helps a bit. Disposable latex gloves worn beneath most any fingerless glove improves my comfort. I keep a few pairs on hand while fishing in very cold weather just in case of tears.

Misspelled Gloomis. Ha!

Couple requirements is the need to have grip on the palm side. Have to have that rubber grip stuff or drop things all day long. Needs to do a decent job of shedding water. My current pair (only ones i could find at the local medium sized small box hunting store) have grip, but cloth back that soaks up the water. Lastly, HAS TO HAVE a thumb flap that folds over. If you can't get your thumb out of the glove, you have to take the whole thing off.

hookup - Nail on the head...... you just hit it. I do already take a pair of medium thick neoprene gloves that the pointer finger and thumb fold over as backup. They work good for right around freezing temps, but not much colder. I want another pair of GOOD glomitts as first choice, my current cloth backed glomitts as backup, the neoprene as third line of defense.

Ya know..... never thought of that. I do have waterproofing spray from shoes or something like that rattling around in my basement somewhere. Might be worth a shot to at least try it.
