Hi everybody, you have a great site here and looking forward to picking up a few tips on tying different jigs for different species.
Right now I just tie bucktails for walleyes but I catch all sorts of fish on them like muskies, catfish, drum, white bass, smallmouth, and sauger.

Welcome from NW Ohio! Those bucktails look excellent....... yellows i have learned are hard to beat. Black is excellent too! ..... and olive. Purple..... Brown..... well shoot, you have all my fav colors covered.

Do you pour your own heads? Have a hook size and weight for them? They look like a very shiny metal alloy. Don't let us convince you that you need to paint the heads a zillion colors. ha!

Thanks for the welcome everybody. I like to pour my own jigs, these ones are 1/4 oz. on a 1/0 hook. I've painted a few before but I mostly just fish them plain, I might start painting them after looking at all the jig pics here.

Dead simple old school done right. You don't care for flash embellishment?

x2 AtticaFish, your heads look unusually smooth and shiny?

I never really got into painting my jigheads, I pour, tie, and fish. I lose a lot in the river where I fish so I don't get too fancy, might give it a try though I really like a black jig with black head and yellow eyes.

Welcome from PA!!!!! I'm a Susquehanna and Juniata river guy but I primarily fish for bass but I do some crappie fishing as well from time to time. It doesn't matter what you're into you will learn a lot here, I only tied bucktails and rabbit hair jigs but now I'm tying all kinds and my tying went from horrific to mediocre which is a big leap!!!!

I used to live kinda out that way in Lock haven and fished the West Branch Susq, and Bald Eagle Creek. I'm out towards Pittsburgh now and we have a lot more species in the Mon river here. I don't know how many smallmouth and channels I caught out of the west branch but it was a lot.

You get channels on jigs?

Yeah, in the fall I do a lot of jigging and usually get a few.

I get a bit of everything, muskie, drum, smallmouth sauger walleye, and the occasional perch all in the same day, same stretch of river.
