new craw

Been messing with the idea that Hipple showed awhile back. These look excellent in the water! Claws stay seperated and makes a really nice profile...

Details:
#2 Aberdeen hook with bent eye to 60 degs. (or so)
Split shot head
Drk. green nail polish & green glitter paint job
Olive chenille on top and tobacco brown chenille on bottom - weaved
Orange crystal chenille head
Antenneas - brown silicone skirt from old bass jig - also has legs on underside
Dark olive zonker claws

Would have needed 4 pics to show all the detail. Actually pretty simple to tie but my toughest part is dealing with the silicone legs. :dodgy: Plan to make more with some other natural colors. My river is FINALLY back to "fishable" so will be needing plenty of :shells: !!!!

Excellent tie,most impressive is the head because it is just a hook and split shot. Looks just like a poured head. I used to do that before I started pouring but they never looked that good.

RonDon - I have put a dent in that dark olive already. Starting to like it better than black!

JungleJim - Thanks, i figured it up and was cheaper than buying poured heads from wallmart, but not by much. And unfortunatley i never know an actual weight. I like the fact of how customized i can make them. Been doing very well on bluegill and perch on some of them with the heavier heads and smaller hooks. They take time to get them nice and smooth. On the craw, i actually filed the bottom side so it will hopefully stay flat and stand right side up when resting on the bottom and not roll over.

Actually the eyes were about the only detail i left out. :blush: Have done them in the past using mono line with melted ends and works good.

The wood - Ha! That is a small foot-stool that my wife bought a few years back. Guy claimed it was an "antique" that he refinished. I personally think he made it from new lumber... beat the daylights out of it... drilled a few holes in it... then hooked a sucker when my wife walked by. :dodgy: I can't complain too much, i took it over as my (antique-hehe) tying bench.

Very nice work! All sorts of stuff you can do with rabbit. One of the coolest part of the rabbit claws is that they will move and undulate even at rest as long as there is just a bit of current.
