Decided to make a Sniper Rifle, lol.Got this old broken stocked 98 Mauser in 30.06 and decided to bring it back to lif in a Better then new process.
With my two below the knee prothetic legs there is no sneaking up on anything anymore. So,I figured to not have to.I tore into it today,First made sure it shot,Neighbors thought hunting season was over.It did.I brought it in and took it apart. The only thing good on the stock was the black finisher on the pistol grip part.Left it on so I would'nt loose the screws. The hinge plate and trigger gaurd sorta fit in the hardwood stock that I bought from the Amish guy along the road having a yard sale.It will work though.Lots of trimming.I'm going to "Glass Bed" the barrel, you can see the trimming envolved with making it fit.The gunsmithing now begins. This will be a running thread. You'll be amazed at the end result that I have planned.

Thanks Ronny, everything will be just fine.Found my spot already and have to shoot between 150 and 200 yards to the edge of the field.Salt licks will be going out all summer long, lol.
Found why the hinge plate would'nt fit so nicely, will fit once I find some tools.

Bruce will look forward to seeing the finished product. Like those type of winter projects. Mine are of the electronics type. Something for the Ham radio shack. Update with pic is a neat deal so be can see the progress and you can have a record of what is done.

Have to say that a sniper rifle for 200 yards?? Well My old Weatherby .270 Mag is good out to 500. Even my model 70 Winchester is good to 400. Must say I do like a mauser action. The 30.06 will stop a whitetail buck at 200 yards.

Ok,started getting special ordered parts coming in.First,I ended up getting a laminated stock. It's was too cheap to end up trying to make the other one work out to my liking.I'll post better pics later when I get the action to fit a little better. The only place there was anything to be adjusted was the trigger gaurd front tang.Time to get the dremmel out.

Beautiful grain on that stock! I have 2 older-than-me .22's that i would like to re-furb someday. One fires (dead on) and the other i'm too skeerd to shoot.

Oh come on - at 150-200yds. you should be able to hit a pop can with open sights. :P Throw some fruit out by that salt!
