Been cleaning my lure making bench and am always amazed at what I can accummulate. Anyhow, while putting things away and in general getting everything all neat and orderly again was going over all my assorted tools, gadgets. goodies etc and decided to make a special place for the non tying tool that I would not want to be without. So I thougjt it would be interesting to see what others have that they would not want to be without. Lets hear it guys and gals.

My most useful item --- a telescoping magnetic pick up tool.

We are 420 friendly out here - can't show you mine....

Actually - not sure if it's an added tool but I like using a 1 1/2" strip of masking tape laid out, sticky side up, in between me and my vise. Catch's everything - trash - dropped stuff - materials to tye. And when your done, ball it up and toss it.

A cold beer will sit anywhere but I always keep these two guys at my bench at all times.

Razor blade is pretty much always out on my table when i am tying, but that is more of a standard tool.

I always keep some small uline plastic jars sitting out with the heads i plan to tie up and then hang them on the rim of the jar as i get them tied.

Hands down...

A paper piercing tool. Designed for paper crafts, but much better than a dubbing needle (bodkin) for comparable tying uses in my opinion.

I cut up a cardboard box, saving a large section of a side with a top flap. I taped a piece of light-blue construction paper to one side. I use that as a backdrop for my vise. Really helps with the eye-strain....

Now, if I can ever find an actual DESK, so I'm not tying on the kitchen table, and get away from the blasted TV......

Going from 9" in front of my face to 12' away, and back, repeatedly, puts a lot of strain on my eyes. I learned them 20 years ago when I used to do Native American Beadwork. If I can just turn the TV off, and turn a radio on, my eyes are much, much, happier. I get stuff done a little faster, as well.
