I saw a lot on here asking how its done so I figured I'd share how I do it. The first thing is don't worry about going over, I have never got to the point of lightening the color up but it does get glossy. I discovered this by accident, I was doing bass jigs for a guy in dark watermelon and I didn't have enough to finish them and I had to have them shipped out the next day so ordering more wasn't going to work and a trip to Cabelas only wasted time since they didn't have the color I needed so I was ready to call the guy and tell him I wouldn't be able to finish his jigs. Well, I was thinking on my way back home and I thought if I add just enough clear that I could stretch the paint out enough that I could at least get coverage it may work because I was going to epoxy coat the jigs anyway so I dumped an unknown quantity of clear into the fluid bed and it worked so now I thinking that pehaps this can be done to all colors and I began to experiment. I found that the best ration for me using a 2oz jar to measure with is roughly 1.25oz of color to .75oz of clear and as I said, even if you go over it doesn't hurt and it seems, at least to me, that it adds more depth to the color that just putting the clear on over the color. If you get the Haror freight matte black and want it to be gloss, well just add clear and it will add gloss and depth but I found that you usually have to go with a little more clear in matte colors to make them gloss.
