Went with Cuzz Butch on all night fishing trip. First fish of night Big Blue gill on medium sized fathead. Shoulda known right then. Tried red head asprin head with sparkle body and white tail. Crappie jump all over it at 6-8 ft but I can't catch them. Feel like rookie fisherman. But hooked ver y few in proportion to amount of hits. For about 45 minutes this went on then nothing. Moved to second choice locale. Nobody wants anything.
Third locale Vexilar lites up like christmas tree. Cant get to bite . Finally BAM 24 inch walleye. Ahh I think ,have a lure called Nilmaster, looks like a jiggin rapala but beefier. Jig for about 5 min tell my partneer this is almost guaranteed walleye. Since the vex flashes are all hugging bottom.

about 10 second later bone jarring hit . Yell get the net this ones a 10 pounder. Fish fights long and hard as it finally gives up and surfaces a 10 pounder. Trouble is its a carp and he is not foul hooked it is in his mouth. Remember carp are supposed to be vegetarians. Cuzz lays it to me about strange looking walleye.

20 minutes later wham an even harder hit unfortunately another carp and it was bigger than first one. I haven' t caught a carp in probably 15 years for whatever reason and then 2 in one night in about 20 minutes apart. I quickly took Nilsmaster ( shad color scheme ) off and don't know if it will ever be out of my box again.

I'd call that a great night. The carp are fun to catch, they pull really hard but I've never eaten one. Walleye is a different story, yum, yum.

Out here...
Those guys fight REALLY HARD... I have had them pressure cooked and made into croquet, but crappie is a lot easier and better. JMO

Guys , trust me , I am not bragging about catching carp. Just thought it odd that they hit a lure designed for walleye. I will post pix later of what I am talking about. Actually these lures are designed for ice fishing with walleyes in mind. While I have caught carp on jig heads when the shad minnows are flocking around floating light. I have never caught them on minnow design lures until these two.
