Been a lot of talk but no pics.......I can say the Eagle Claw out of the box is not as sharp. I received about 50 #4's of the Eagle Claw to compare. I just purchased a new 1000 Matzuo #4 from Capt Hooks. So both are fresh hooks. Eagle Claw is thinner and appears more stamped vs round like Matzuo. The hook tip of the Eagle Claw is curved inward more than the Matzuo. Both will catch fish but I am personally going to stick with Matzuo. Pics for all. You can also note the "eye" past the lead on the head is a little different between hooks.

Taking the bend and pulling out with pliers......no science but the Eagle Claw is more pliable.

Notice the eye on the E.C.'s.They are oblong and not round.I found that out this evening after powder painting some #4's.A small paper clip wont hardly fit though them, like it does on the #4 Matzuo eye.Its going to be a pain to thread 20#/6#dia. braid in the E.C. eyes.I'm staying with Matzuo. A heated paper clip is how I clean the eyes before curing if anyone is wondering. Most of the time I dip 4 times.1 dip White Base coat,2 dips SuperGlo,1 clear if I'm doing glo heads.Otherwise 3 dips in non glow powder.I like a solid coverage.

JM - might be a thinner diameter, feels looser in some molds.

Anybody contacted Eagle Claw with their product issues? If EC don't know - how can they fix it?

PJ - you might want to try the "cover the eye with hemostats" dip. Eliminate cleaning the eye later..

I really like them - still - caught some nice fish using them, so....

PB. My recent evaluation of the new lil nastys is 100% the same as yours. Definitely not as sharp and most of all i really dislike the turned in hook point.

Now if you want a real hook get the L570BP. Extremely sharp, flexible, and a good size barb. Yeah they cost more but if you pour your heads you can still pour a head for 8 cents.

I don't pour, but interesting read nonetheless. Gives me something to think about when selecting unpainted jigs to purchase.

I use it for tubes and football & round head silicon/bucktail jigs for bass. Very sticky
