What is the best place to get jig tying materials? Right now i am considering hackle, marabou, chenille, jigheads, thread, bobbin, scissors, whip finisher, krystal flash, and tinsel from(52 items for 199.88) Rubber leg material from lure parts online (5 ft strips of 15-20) (26.91) Powder psint from tjs tackle (2 oz jars) (55.90) that gives me a running total of $282.69. I would like to get this down to at least under 250 dollars.

All i hear about is crazy angler lol. i will give him a try!

There is a reason for it..... Check out barlows while your at it. You mentioned you were buying material at Bass pro the other day. They have a good selection also. Cabelas does to. I'm sure there are several fly shops in the Houston area, but the price will be higher, but a better selection of tools. Your vise is prolly your largest one time purchase. Most of us started out with a cheap on then went to one of better quality...

thats what im doing. i bought a vise 2 years ago for 20 dollars. it should help me to work on jigs while waiting to get a PEAK (buying from skip most likely). you guys were right about crazy angler. 7u pieces of marabou at BPS is 23.03 and at crazy angler 1 can get 9 pieces of strung marabou for under 20 bucks! I am guessing that the only thing i will buy from bass pro shops is the chenille, because i cant seem to find it on crazy angler. Not the kind i want/need anyway!

UPDATE!: I now have nothing in my cart at BPS!!! I am getting everything besides jigheads and leg material at Crazy angler. I found a place called nimrods tackle that sells unpainted no collar heads 100 heads for 10.00-10.25! way better than 4packs of 12 for 15.00

The rubber legs are solid which means i will be able to bar the legs with sharpie.

Big thanks to Crappiejgr for helping me out!

Sounds like you are off to a great start in materials. It is best to find a couple of places to buy from so you can keep the shipping cost down. Good luck with your tying and be sure to post some pics of your work.

Are they ball head? and what kind of hooks do they have? i dont really care for sickle hooks. the jigheads im looking at are Mustad bronze.

Yeah i found crazy angler is really good for all my materials, and i am still kind of iffy on jigheads. still dont know where i am gonna get dubbing. im thinkin barlows, as they have the flourescent assortment for steelhead which i am going to use it for bream patterns.

UPDATE: I found some superbright dubbing at CA. I can get peacock tail feathers from a feed store in town for free. So i got that in the bag.

I think that the aberdeen hooks will work better for my style of tying, if i have a specific style!

Basically, i want to do traditional marabou jigs, hackle tail jigs, Auto style jigs, BellySpin/ThroatSpin jigs, hackle collar jigs, Dubbing body jigs w/ or w/o tail. Wooly Jiggers, and probably more, but i cant think of them right now!!

EDIT: I have found that jannsnetcraft has cheaper ultra style chenille in both micro and starndard for less than a dollar. i got 2 packs each of my favorite colors for fishing in each size.

I am getting some cool colors of the newage and crystal chenille from CA, as well as all my marabou, hackle, swivels, rings, blades for bellyspins, powderpaint, thread, tinsel and crystal flash.

I am still getting the bulk rubber legs from lureparts online 3 bucks for 5 ft!

NimrodsTackle seems to have the best price for ballhead jigs with aberdeen hooks (mustad)

Any other suggestions would be appreciated
