I used to soak bucktails in gulp alive juice. It worked better than tipping it with rather stiff gulp grubs, but I never really compared its effect to a blank bucktail. Since I used them on the 2. rod which dangled dead in the water it gave me a little more confidence.

For trout I often dunk my woolie jigs in corn juice, right from the can. Altho the last two late Fall seasons I've had great success with a 1/4" triangle of a flat ,bubblegum like saltwater product named "Fishbites" .

Used to use Berkey's Strike all the time and it would work better than anything else I ever used. Well then they discontinued it. Then I would use their Crappie attractant which does a good job not great. Now when the bite is slow I throw on a Gulp grub and that will 65% of the time produce a strike. To put it mildly if they ain't hungry they ain't going to bite.

I have 4 or 5 different kinds, Powerbait, kickin crappie, Yum, SlabSlobber, ect. Never really noticed a difference, but may. I was on the fence about crappie nibbles, but after playing with some of my jigs in my fish tank and the fish would just look at them, then put a nibble on and they would attack it. They liked the way it would make a little puff of smoke as you would twitch it. Now, unless its the spring time, I always have some crappie dope on my jig. Found them at BP for $10 for 4 jars and bought 20 jars.
