Unfortunately I have not yet been able to get on the water this winter and feed my Crappie addiction but Fortunately one of my cousins has and he helped me curb my cravings a little today. He fishes Truman Lake and Lake of the Ozarks a lot and they have been doing pretty good. He had a Gatherin at his house today for his birthday. I always look forward to gatherins at his house cause its pretty much a guarantee he will have a BBQ full of some sort of wild game or a huge fryer full of crappie and anything else laying around that will hold batter. :) I think I ate my weight in crappie fillets and taters today. I also got to pick his brain a little about fishing techniques, jigs and color combos that have been working for him. Good Day it was. Now to tie some more jigs.:icon14:

I have five quart bags at the brothers house. I keep asking him to bring some over and he keeps telling me he forgot. Amzing that he has had three fish frys and I have not been invited to a single one. Better yet he always shows up when I fix some for me and the folks............sigh

You mean you USED to have five quart bags. :exclamation: He owes you!

We had a mix bag of bluegill and perch last week - tried a new fry coating using Panko bread crumbs and they were very good. If you like a crunchy coating, this is for you. Pricey for a small box though.

We have eaten that on oven baked chicken strips and chicken parm. but not on fish.

I vowed to NEVER eat tilapia again after watching the Dirty Jobs fish farm episode.

Rad I bet they won't be Crappie. Still have a good stash and hope to get out again the end of the week after this next front passes. I should be good to go about Thursday or Friday. Need to put some more up and pay back some people I owe a few packs to.

Fatman and Attica, the brother said that was how many bags he had left in the freezer. Said he was thinning out the fish for this year's catch. Told him he better hope we have runoff from the snow pack or there won't be any water to fish in.............Hmmmm.....I think Rad is siphoning water out of my lake............lol

Yeah MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!! That just makes me hungry!!!!!!!!

Wish we could send you guys some of ours!!! We had the big storm with 23"+ and 2 weeks ago had a real warm spell and a day of rain. Only had about 4-5 inchs left, they were watching the rivers for ice jams especially after we took such a big hit from Irene. Just got 5 1/2" of fresh snow last night and today it's supposed to be near 50 degrees and possible rain. They have the flood watch's out already!!!

New on here. Saw pics of those slabs and had to add there is a great recipe for fish meatballs on specialfoodrecipe.com. Don't knock these til you try them. Great with any Italian dish or meatball subs. I need to post some jigs I have tied on here. Been tying flies since age 13, moved to Kansas in '86 and started tying my own crappie jigs. Glen Elder slabs seem to love my work. You all do a great job with your site, your posts and tying. Keep up the good work. Eyecrosser
