Heres my first attempt at making one of these! The weight on this one is 3/16. I will try to trim some weight off the next one! I still need to add some snap swivels to the wires. I am going deck these out with 2 inch grubs and chunk it behind the spillway. My goal is to catch a crappie. Ive got a feeling it will be hard to keep the "bar fish" or white bass of it though! I will post a finished pic when i get it finished.

Can't wait to see how you finish it up.I'm working on a "Pennsylvania Rig" right now.I'm starting off with a 1/2 oz. for crappies.

I have a 1/2 oz mold i dont use that i am going to do a lil grinding on. I will use it for bass. I need to get some heavier wire though. I will say that unless the head is positioned in the mold just perfect you will be using a ladel to pour these! Try fitting a mold with 8 inches of wires hanging out the bottom under a pot! I was able to use the lee pot on the one i made by sliding the pot to the edge of the table and leaning the mold just right. I poured it at the highest temp also. Didnt want a crappy pour with all that work!

Excellent!!!! and yeah you'll have a hard time keeping the white bass off of it!!!! If you're using it for crappy I wouldn't think you'd need more than .031, you don't want to kill the action with too stiff of a wire.

The popular (trademarked) Alabama Rig that I've seen is nowhere near as nice-looking as your Louisiana Rig.

Great work RD.

I have several lead pots . On one of them I turned the base plate around backwards .Screwed the sucker to the table . Sticks out over the edge of the table giving me plenty of clearance for things with wires . They make molds with the darn wires sticking out the top on purpose so you have to ladle pour or at least battle the things.

That seems like a great idea, but is that putting any extra pressure on the two element piece's that lead into the pot??? or pressure on the base because it's turned around??

I gotta agree on the way their making the molds - you'd think they could put the pour holes in the sides of the mold so the wires weren't in the way.

A buddy cut the bottom plate and screwed the base to the edge of his bench. The pot hangs out over the edge of the tabletop. Works great for wire pours!
