Ain't it they way it usually works. Sent the last payment off on Mrs Rad's car off sat.
Get up tues, old red, who only has 236k on her almost acts like the engine is locked up. Finally get her cranked up. Drove fine next two days This am leave the house and notice some smoke. Oils fine, coolant fine, trans fluid good. Mechanic says head gasket not totally blown, but for all practical purposes is...
Put in enough stop leak he thinks will get to the dealer in time to trade it.

Did I say I hate truck payments !!!!

Good used motor should be easy to find and beats the heck out of car payments

Ditto what Kdog stated. I'd even consider a rebuilt replacement motor (a Jasper) if the rest of the vehicle is solid. Fewer and smaller payments on a replacement engine...if payments are necessary.

Having a very trusted mechanic has lead me to think a lot differently about the vehicles I drive...into the ground. ;)

If the rest of the drive train and body are solid and ya like the truck (kinda like the O'l Hound Dog that's always there for ya) , long block would be better than truck payments . Just my 2 cent opinion .

Hate to hear the news on the truck, I may be adding one soon to.

I try to tell my 99 F-150 I love it every week by adding new parts!!! Seems it likes getting new parts because it tries to show me that parts don't last forever. Thought I was good for awhile and now the heater isn't working, I love my truck :)

be very, very carful Ronnie. That's where this started. Heater core was clogged and I had no heat last week. Found a radiator shop that had a special power flush to unclog my heater core. It worked and I now have heat. All my trouble started last Friday when I picked it up from him. My main mechanic says he can't total blame the power flush for my blown head gasket but it is the reason it blew. I woulda put up with a cold truck had I known.

it is not wise to use anykind of Flushes in vehicles..... They are really corrosive, and will remove the crud that is built up around everything that is stopping the leaks.... when the crud is removed, problemos......

Sorry, learning from your misfortune, thanks for sharing.

On the other hand, I've never had a new or even newer vehicle, that must feel pretty good.
