Last spring I bought a box of msc fishing stuff at a garage sale. There were a few jigs in it that I had never seen before. my local crappie just loved them. They had a solid rubber/plastic (grub like) body with krystal flash for a tail. I lost the last one I had and I can't seem to find them anywhere to buy. Can anyone tell me who might make something like these or how they are made. I've tried making a couple but they are just not the same. I think the flash might be tied on then they pour the body in a mold. This is one I did to give ya'll an Idea of what I'm talking bout.

Thanks FM! Thats seems simple enough. I don't know why I never thought of using a needle to thread material through the body. I'll give that a try and see what I can come up with. The bodies on the ones I had were kind of a peach color and the tails were silver flash. The crappies in my cousins lake were all over those things. Then again on a good day I think you could thread a cigarette butt on a hook and catch fish in that lake:)

I'd say that was one great shot that hit the bull's-eye FM.

Could secure the material behind the jig head with a few wraps of thin thread, trim, whip finish, and glue if desired.

Just replace the feathers with the flash......I call these a Chet Fly...

The orginal jig was a Fuzz-e-grub made by Lindy. If you want to pour your own Jacobsbaits.com has a couple of molds. You tie the tail on the jig hook and put the hook in the mold, then shoot the body with plastic. You have to use hooks and jigheads that will fit the mold.

Thanks guys -

Andy I used the beat up grub bodies I had in my tackle bag - the trout tore the tails on them up last season. Easy way to do a few to see if your going to like them (and the large eye needle - I stole out of the sewing box!!!)

If you don't have a needle with a big eye, you can also use a smaller needle with a loop of mono. Thread both ends of the mono through the eye, forming a loop. Insert the needle through the end of the body and pull it enough so it leaves a loop on the other end. Then thread your tail materials through the loop and pull the loop through the body.
