Last Friday night, as I was going to bed, I started having some pain in my stomach. I'm using to gas pressure, which is what this felt like, but it was in a weird place. I dealt with it as best I could for a couple hours, then called me wife to come and get me. I went to the ER. Come to find out, my appendix was starting to become inflamed. We found that out around 0430 Sat. Since I live in a smaller town, the local hospital's surgery was closed for the weekend. My wife drove me up to the "mother ship" Hospital in Tulsa, and I had my appendix removed about an hour later.

I spend the night in Hospital. I got out at lunch time on Sunday. I'm currently at my parent's, as they have some recliners that do the same thing as a hospital bed.

I should be back to work in a week or so. I'll be on light-duty restrictions for several weeks. That means no fishing for catfish and/or Stripers.

Sorry for both you guys!!!!

My appendix was taken out at the age of 27 back in 91. I was at work on a Wednesday night and my side hurt all night. Got off work went to breakfast and then went home and went to bed. My wife woke me up about 2 in the afternoon because I was sweating so bad. My side was killing me. Off to ER we go. Took me in did some checking and off to surgery. As I was waking up in the recovery room, a feller asked me if I needed anything. I told him I was hungry and could I please get a pizza or cheeseburger. You never heard anyone laugh so hard in all your life! After he recovered from his laughing spell, he explained that I wouldn't be getting anything to eat or drink for a couple of days. Doggone sure wasn't funny!!!!

Thanks gents. I'm usually healthy as a horse, other than the spare tire. When this started, I new something wasn't right.

I'm seeing a lot of improvements, especially in the past 12 hours.

Honestly, I've been fishing for nothing but panfish for over a month now. Looks like I'll keep at that for awhile. Good excuse to keep tying jigs and flies :)

A-OK, sounds like you survived a close call. Good luck on recovery, hospitals are apparently the most likely place to get a super bug infection.

A-OK, best wishes. Voice of exeprience, any pain, call your doctor. Be a pest if you have to.....

Mine unfortunately ruptured, Doc did not get me cleaned out properly and although I was sent home after 2 days, 2 days later I was back in the hospital for as it turned out 11 days.
