This is a bait that I've been tying a lot of lately in order to prepare for next spring's smallmouth bass fishing. It's somewhat similar in appearance to soft plastics like the Yammamoto Fat Ika or any of several skirted Chompers.

Each is tied on a 1/8-ounce ball head with a #2 bronze hook.

Comprised of eyelash yarn, chenille, and craft fur, my "Kreecher" jigs are meant to be fished along lake and river bottoms.

Thank you for your comments FM and Hunter. :)

Do you ever get any short hits?

Yes, infrequently though. I believe that I've learned to distinguish many of the "pecks" made by bluegills and other sunfish.

I like those. Crossing over into the baitcaster's lures and tieing a jig to match.....I like it.

I can see how yours would be much more effective with the similar profile but more versatile presentation. No smallies here, at least that I know of, but look forward to seeing the pictures.

Thank you for your comments everyone. :)

Hope to have these "field tested" this coming spring, if not sooner. ;)
