Has anyone ever replaced their heating element before ? I believe that's the problem with my pot. It's the 10lb bottom pour, 120 volts. While heating the pot drips creating a hollow layer that remains solid on top while dripping below. Any suggestions to fixing this problem ? Could it be something else? I don't want to send it in to get fixed in case I need something I don't have. For now I've been putting an aluminum pot upside down against the bottom spout preventing the drip but don't want to constantly do this. Where can I get a new heating element? Also thinking about draining the pot to clean it and the plunger. Anyone have any ideas ?

I would empty it and clean it really well. Remove the plunger, clean the spout with a drill
Bit from the bottom. I used some sand paper on the plunger itself to clean mine up.
Of course use eye protection, gloves and respirator .

I haven't worked on one yet. I had a pot go out a couple months ago and of course it was slam full of lead. I was in a bind so I paid a fortune locally for another one. I haven't even gotten around to getting the lead out yet.

What lead do you have in it . If it is wheel weight type or has contaminates like that sometimes the contaminates take more heat to melt down. They will stay solid on top longer . Try putting your pot on 4 about 15 minutes then increase to 8 . Just killed my 15 lb pour ladle pot by getting hold of that kind of lead .

JJ ... as TF said about bad material .... Flux & Flux some more .. may have to clean it all out.

As far as repairs go Lee will take care of you ... send in the broken one & they will send you one at 1/2 price.(I belive that is the way it is).

Same thing I had to do with my pot. Seems to always drip some so I keep a piece of wire handy to clean the hole as needed.

No wheel weights go in my pot. I've been using good soft lead for the most part now since I ran out of harder lead. Leads soft enough that I haven't fluxed in awhile. After next pouring session I'll drain the pot and clean it real good and we'll see what happens. Definitely need to flux more often even though I'm constantly skimming what crud I do see on top. Hopefully cleaning will solve the problem, pot is four years old. I was at Cabela's earlier this week and was going to buy another pot but they didn't have any in stock. Thanks everyone for the suggestions, I'll clean it up and flux more often. Stump, I use a large paper clip to clean out the hole and it works really well. Once it get's going it pours really well.
