Was looking online for the smaller lead free sinkers and was shocked at the price they want, and my nephew just bought some from Wal mart and for 5 1/8oz it was $1.89.

So this question is for the you guys who pour Lead Free - I like bass casting sinkers but when pouring which would be easier to pour Bass Casting - which has an insert or Walking Sinker which doesn't have one????

Biggest problem is with Roto metals - you have to buy minimum of
4 lbs. Any place to get it cheaper??? or in less quantity??? Can get the mold but want to make sure I can get the tin first!!!

Thanks

Doug,
I just got into lead free jigs now going on 6 months. I don't know of any place that sells it cheaper or in less quantities by the pound. It's around $20/lb. I would say for the sake of ease, the walking sinker would be better. I'm sure HawnJigs will chime in and help out. Believe it or not (5) for $1.89 is cheap. You will be pretty hard pressed to get it cheaper. Also pouring with bismuth doesw have a big learning curve. Believe me I know. I was going to stop doing this at one point as there are many obstacles and the time to get it to work at one point wasn't worth it.

You need to buy bulk to get a price break - I just bought a 35 lbs. block of pure bismuth from Hallmark Metals in Cranston RI up your way Fatman for $550 delivered to HI. I don't cast pure because its brittle, and alloy it with tin. Call them at 888-467-8000 if you want a quote.

Bass casting sinkers with #7 barrel swivel inserts are pretty EZ to cast lead free. Sprue removal requires sturdy wire cutters and a bit of filing.
