I just couldn't resist the urge to get in a little fishing after I got out from work Saturday. SWMBO had managed to get everything I needed to make dinner, so I didn't have to go to a busy grocery store on a weekend...
Stopped at one of my local home lakes (there are two close together). Armed with my little UL rod, freshly spooled with Nanofil 6 lbs test, 24" of 4 lbs mono leader, and one of my 1/32 Electric Chicken jigs, I started checking to see if anything was hungry. No luck inside the crappie dock, so went to the outside and found a lady feeding some fish (and catching a few) with live minnows. I started casting out a bit, slow retrieve, then vertical jigging for a bit once the retrieve was finished. I caught 8 or so Crappie, all of which were the typical stunted things that infest this lake. I did, however, see some people catching a few Bluegill, and even saw the one lady catch a Warmouth.
I declare the season open, at least for my area!
