Thanks guys. It's still a bit early and the wind and muddy water sure stifled things. Last year in June these cats really turned on, and I stung about 6-10 during a 4 day trip on the same 1/24 oz Boolie ( Hawnjigs' little roundhead,no. 8 hook, prop spinner, flashabou and trimmed purple rabbit tail), but had to pop them off after up to 45 minute fights with 4# test mono because my 29 year old son wasn't with me to put a clamp in their jaw, like he was this trip! Also upped my line to 5# test power pro for just a bit more strength, but stayed with my favorite 4'9" Charlie Brewer Slider rod. This year with all the recent storms a massive amount of tree limbs, logs, and debris collected along the pier rocks, so I tipped the tiny hook was a small kernel of corn to shield the hook gap (plus cats love the smell & taste!!). This worked like a charm and made it easy to swim & drop my jig into key bottom areas.
