I have happy fish! I went to the farm store and bought a trough de-icer. This thing works great! I threw it in and my fish have a nice warm spot to bask in on "Lake Dave". In fact the warm spot has improved their december sluggish metabolism. They are feeding on the top water and quite regularly. I threw in a handful of "DonnyBeav" brand pellets, sat at my kitchen table with a coffee, and watching rising blue gills all morning. Talk about sweetness... 17 degrees out and I'm watching rising fish. The only thing better would be if they were trout instead of goldfish and 'gills.
