Hit the lake yesterday morning for some more longlining from the kayak. The water temp has dropped from 83 last week down to 78. The bite was slow but did find a few willing to bite.

Been asked about my kayak setup. Here are some pics, the trolling motor I custom built to fit the yak with the controls up front at my right hand. I used the adjustable foot braces on the kayak and ran cables from the foot braces to the trolling motor bracket I installed on the motor shaft to control the movement of the motor. These cables are run through copper tubing so they will move freely.
The wheels are built so they can be turned up while fishing and make so they clear the trolling motor while turned down, this way I don't have to remove the trolling motor. They attach with quick pins. I don't use the motor all the time and it can be removed in less than a minute.
I have the kayak set up for spider rigging (rack not shown) and longline trolling with jigs or cranks. Single rod fishing and fly fishing is also enjoyable from the kayak. One of the first things I changed was the seat, the 125.00 spent on the seat was worth every penny.:icon14:
